COVID-19 PROTOCOL

Below are the recommendations for our Veteran Vehicle Salutes (VVS) during COVID-19. County and State regulations are changing daily, so please check back in for up-to-date information.
All Welcome Home Military Heroes Brigades (Committees) are currently operating with new guidelines. Please CLICK HERE to view the changes made.

  1. Steps taken by our Board prior to each event
    1. We contact local Law Enforcement (City, Sheriff, CHP) and other First Responders to inform them about event and ask them what protocols they would like us to follow.
    2. We inform the City and County about event and request the most up-to-date county health regulations.
    3. In communication with family about safety and health concerns they have for event.
  2. Arrival
    1. When you arrive to staging area, we ask all participants to please stay inside their vehicles.
      1. If you are a motorcycle rider, please keep 6 feet distance and wear a mask.
    2. Do not attend our events if you:
      1. feel under the weather
      2. Was in contact with someone in the last two weeks that was diagnose with COVID-19.
    3. Drivers Briefing
      1. There will no longer be any driver briefings at staging area.
      2. Drivers Briefing will be:
        1. The night prior on Patriots of Welcome Home Military Heroes private page
        2. If you do not have Facebook, you will receive a paper briefing when you arrive.
        3. When we are about to leave staging area, we will go live on our public page: Welcome Home Military Heroes and give a briefing. We will ask everyone at staging area to honk to identify themselves watching.
        4. A member of our team will be out of vehicle to direct vehicles to parking spot and then to direct all traffic out of staging area.
  1. Order of VVS
    1. Law Enforcement Officers
    2. First Responders
    3. WHMH Truck
    4. Military Vehicles
    5. Motorcycles
    6. Everyone else just fall in line
  • Order subject to change. If changes occur, we will announce in drivers briefing.
  1. Salute (After driving by)
    1. We ask that only our low risk Patriots attend the salute
    2. Stand six feet apart
    3. Wear a mask
    4. Stand over ten feet away from Military Hero that we are honoring.
  2. Gifts/ Cards
    1. If you want to give a gift or card to the Military Hero we are honoring, please give it to our team at staging area.
    2. Our team will sanitize all items prior to handing it to Military Hero or their family
    3. We will NOT be signing any Welcome Home Flags.
      1. Military Hero who returns home from deployment, will receive a flag that is still in the plastic and was not signed by our Patriots.
    4. Challenge Coins will be given to each Military Hero. It will be kept in a clear plastic envelope that it originally came it.

Majority of WHMH Patriots (Members) are classified as high-risk individuals. Our Board understands this and takes the health and safety of our Patriots serious. We ask that all those who are participating in our VVS take this very seriously.
