The Wall That Heals Flag Line & Line Bridges

03/14/2023 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Please join Welcome Home Military Heroes, Protect Paso, San Luis Obispo Veterans Service Office, Central Coast Veterans Memorial Building and many other organizations on March 14 to welcome The Wall That Heals. The Wall That Heals is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has been displayed at nearly 700 communities throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial’s healing legacy to millions. For the first time ever, the wall will be returning to a community for the second time. We are so excited to help with organizing the flag line at Madonna Inn and lining the bridges with people and American Flags.

Video about The Wall That Heals. Video footage is from when it was here in 2017.

If you live South of San Luis Obispo, we ask you to please attend the flag line at Madonna Inn and if you live north, please go to a local bridge to you with an American Flag. Please read more details below:

Madonna Inn Flag Line!

If you live south of San Luis Obispo, we are asking you to show up at Madonna Inn by 10 am. Because of the size of this event, we ask you to bring your own American Flag. We will not have enough. When you arrive, please park in the Madonna Inn Parking lot in front of the restaurant and walk to the backside. You will see Members of Welcome Home Military Heroes and will be directed at that point. We are estimating over 200 motorcycles, and multiple law enforcement agencies will be escorting the wall into Madonna Inn. After they pass, volunteers will be needed to help set up the Wall.

Welcome Home Military Heroes, The Wall That Heals and almost every other organization that is helping plan, organize, and attend this event is a nonprofit organization or a government agency. Because of this, NO POLITICAL FLAGS will be allowed at Madonna Inn. We ask for you to respect this since the nonprofits can lose their 501c3 status if this is seen.

Bridge Flag Lines!

If you live north of San Luis Obispo, you can choose to honor the escort on one of the bridges listed below. This is purely voluntary.  Many north county overpasses do not have a pedestrian sidewalk on the north side.  There is no point of contact or supervision for gathering on overpasses to view the escort.  Please consider your personal safety when deciding where to participate.  You will need to provide your own American Flag.

WHMH will be a part of the escort and at Madonna Inn,  The Wall will depart from San Miguel at 10:00 am and will be traveling 55mph. Please plan accordingly when arriving at the bridge. WHMH will be live on Facebook during the escort. Starting at 9:30 am, please go to Welcome Home Military Heroes’ Facebook Page to see where they are located at.

Welcome Home Military Heroes, The Wall That Heals, and almost every other organization that is helping plan, organize and attend this event is a nonprofit organization or a government agency. Because of this, NO POLITICAL FLAGS will be allowed on any of the bridges. We ask for you to respect this since the nonprofits can lose their 501c3 status if this is seen and reported.
