Veteran Vehicle Salute – Bataan Death March Survivor

BIRTHDAY/HONOR VEHICLE SALUTE
100 Year Old, WWII Veteran, James T. Murphy
Our Hero was taken prisoner by the Japanese in the Philippine islands in 1942. He survived the Bataan Death March and performed slave labor in the Japanese copper mines as a POW.
His story was the inspiration for a book co-authored by one of his son’s, Kenneth Murphy, titled “When Men Must Live”
DATE: Sunday, September 27th
LOCATION: Santa Maria
TIME: ARRIVE at Staging Location NO LATER than 12:00 pm
STAGING LOCATION:  Parking Lot of Social Security Administration Building, 2436 Professional Parkway, Santa Maria – Look for Welcome Home trucks with flags.
BRIEFING: 12:15 pm (You must attend briefing)

DETAILS/SAFETY MEASURES

1. STAGING AREA: Meet at above Stage/Meeting Area
2. REMAIN: In your vehicles, as we are practicing social distancing. If you exit to stretch your legs, please remain near your vehicle.
3. BRIEFING: You must attend the briefing to be part of this event.
4. DEPARTURE: After the briefing, we will line up the caravan/convoy in order and depart.
5. HEADLIGHTS/HAZARD LIGHTS:**** Please turn them on when we line up to exit the staging area. DRIVE SLOW.
6. EXITING PARKING LOT: Follow all traffic laws.
7. Birthday cards will need to be given to Robert Sr, Robert Jr, OR Cheryl. For safety reasons, we will present on your behalf.
DECORATE YOUR VEHICLES: You may decorate if you want.
