Welcome Home Our Heroes – Sherman’s Legacy Flight Celebration ✈️

Join us for a heartfelt Welcome Home Ceremony honoring the legacy of Sherman Smoot and celebrating the bravery of our veterans—held in recognition of the 81st anniversary of D-Day.

On this special day, a group of 15+ local veterans will take flight aboard the restored WWII C-47B “Betsy’s Biscuit Bomber” as part of the 2nd Annual Sherman’s Legacy Flight. We’ll share more accurate numbers as we get closer to the event—but one thing is certain: these heroes deserve a crowd full of love, gratitude, and patriotic pride when they return.

This event is open to the public and family-friendly—everyone is welcome to attend and be part of this memorable tribute.

The event is planned and hosted by Estrella Warbirds Museum and the Smoot Family, in coordination with Honor Flight Central Coast.
Welcome Home Military Heroes has been invited to organize the official Welcome Home portion of the day, and we’re calling on our incredible community to show up and support.

Let’s come together to pay tribute to D-Day, carry forward Sherman’s legacy, and honor the brave men and women who’ve served.
