SANTA MARIA, Calif. – A local Navy veteran who died was honored with a procession in Santa Maria Monday night.
37-year-old Lieutenant Ryan Schwartz joined the Navy in 1999.
He began his career as an enlisted man and worked his way up to officer. He had two deployments to Hawaii in his career. A career which spanned 19 years.
He was stationed in Virginia at the time of his passing.
Lt. Schwartz is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
The Welcome Home Military Heroes organization provided a flag line in his honor.
