Welcome Home Military Heroes, a nonprofit dedicated to honoring and supporting veterans and their families, has announced a temporary break from operations between December 15 and January 31. During this time, no events will be hosted as the organization encourages its dedicated volunteers to spend quality time with their families and enjoy the holiday season.
While most operations will pause, some programs will remain open to support veterans and military families. The Veteran In Need Program and Military Care Packages will continue to operate during the break, ensuring that urgent needs and care for deployed service members are met.
The break also allows the board of directors to focus on strategic planning for 2025. In the coming year, the organization estimates it will honor and support over 1,500 Central Coast military heroes through its various programs and events. Looking ahead to 2025, Welcome Home Military Heroes plans to expand its reach to honor and support even more military heroes and their families.
“In 2024, we had our largest year-to-year increase in supporting our military heroes, and we expect to have another 10-15% increase in 2025,” said Robert Tolan Jr., cofounder and vice president of Welcome Home Military Heroes.
“Anyone can request a mission from us at any time on our website. We recommend planning ahead, as we hosted or attended over 70 veterans events in 2024, and our schedule is already booking out into December 2025. Go to our website and schedule an event with us,” added Cheryl Tolan, cofounder and secretary of Welcome Home Military Heroes.
While most events are on hold, the organization has assured the community that they will review requests for urgent support during the break. The board may step in to host events on a case-by-case basis, depending on the urgency and needs of the veteran involved.
Welcome Home Military Heroes will resume its full calendar of activities in February 2024, with a goal of making the year one of its most impactful yet.
