In a spirit of gratitude and reflection, Welcome Home Military Heroes, a dedicated nonprofit organization supporting veterans on the Central Coast, announces a temporary closure for the next 30 days to allow its leadership and volunteers to embrace the holiday season with family and friends.

Welcome Home Military Heroes concluded its activities with a heartfelt Veteran Vehicle Salute in Santa Barbara. The event, held in honor of a remarkable 100-year-old WWII Veteran who received a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge, marked a poignant tribute to a true American hero.

“We wanted to close the year on a high note by paying our respects to an exceptional WWII Veteran. The salute was a token of our deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military heroes,” said Robert Tolan Sr, President of WHMH.

During this month-long hiatus, the organization’s leadership and volunteers will take a well-deserved break to recharge and spend quality time with loved ones. This pause reflects the organization’s commitment to fostering a supportive and caring community, not only for veterans but also for those who dedicate their time to serving our military heroes.

Starting in December 2020, Welcome Home Military Heroes began taking a month off during the holiday season, and we are proud to continue this tradition. It allows us to recharge and come back even stronger to serve our veterans,” added Tolan Sr.

Looking ahead, Welcome Home Military Heroes is already gearing up for an impactful 2024. Following the new year, the organization’s board will convene to strategize and plan upcoming events. Discussions will center around the direction the nonprofit wishes to take, aiming to better serve and support Central Coast Veterans in the coming year.

“We believe that taking this time to regroup and plan for the future will allow us to continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of our veterans. We look forward to the opportunities and challenges that 2024 will bring,” added [Name].

Robert Tolan Jr, Vice President of WHMH, affirmed that normal operations will resume starting Friday, January 26. “We believe that taking this time to regroup and plan for the future will allow us to continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of our veterans. We look forward to the opportunities and challenges that 2024 will bring, We’re excited to get back to work and continue our mission of supporting and honoring our Central Coast Veterans. But we are all looking forward to the break to relax and be with family.”

Cheryl Tolan, Secretary of Welcome Home Military Heroes, encourages the community, stating that anyone can request a mission at any time as long as the date of the requested event takes place after January 26. “Our doors are always open for those who wish to contribute or seek assistance for our veterans. We’re eager to continue our mission of supporting our military heroes in the coming year.”

Additionally, in 2024, Welcome Home Military Heroes will be seeking several positions for the upcoming year, and an official announcement will be made soon. The organization also plans to host a social event to bring volunteers together, celebrating the successes of 2023 and discussing the future of the organization in 2024.

Welcome Home Military Heroes wishes everyone a joyful holiday season and looks forward to reconnecting with the community in the new year.
