Community members gave a warm welcome to a U.S. Navy Sailor who returned home to Santa Maria after a long deployment.
On Saturday, Welcome Home Military Heroes held a drive-by salute for Mariah Arellano who was stationed on the USS Theodore Roosevelt when the coronavirus pandemic first broke out.
Santa Maria city council members, the Santa Maria fire Department, American Legion Riders, the Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association and other community groups celebrated her homecoming.
Arellano attended Pioneer Valley High School in Santa Maria and joined the military last year.
